How to print a PDF pattern?

You have just purchased a PDF sewing pattern, or you are still hesitating...

-The file is sent to you by email automatically upon purchase, without delay
-You can download the pattern and tutorial files and print them immediately on your printer.
-Thanks to the size selection, you can print only one or several sizes, fewer lines to manage (we preserve your view 🙂
-And also, thanks to the size selection when printing, you can cut your paper pattern directly, no need to take the lines with tracing paper or tissue paper
-The sizes are differentiated by colors, which makes the sewing pattern even more readable, no more risk of squinting at the dotted lines
-You save your pattern in order to save it safely on your computer or a hard drive, and it also saves space
-As soon as you feel like it, you just have to reprint your pattern as you wish in your current size or of course use the one already printed, if you do not want to make any modifications
-The price is lower than a pocket pattern (no printing, packaging, shipping costs, etc.)
-Seam allowances are included (as in the pocket version) but they are, in addition, drawn in dotted lines unlike the pocket version, which can be very useful to you when assembling your model or if you wish to modify your pattern, personalize it or adjust it to your size according to your measurements.

You will need:

  • a classic home printer, preferably a color printer, but it is also possible with a “black & white” printer
  • a computer or tablet equipped with software or an application for decompressing zipped files, for example Winzip. Generally installed by default on your computer
  • Your computer must also have software that can open a PDF file.
Preferably Adobe ACROBAT Reader. Software generally installed on most computers.
Here is the link to download it for free , if you don't have it.

Download your pattern in 4 steps:

  1. Open the download link you are redirected to after payment.
A confirmation email will also be sent to you after payment. Download your pattern from the link included in this email.
Not receiving the email? Check your spam folder.
Still nothing in your emails/spam? Log in to your “Clématisse Pattern” account and access your patterns.
  2. Double-click the ZIP file to open it
  3. Select the PDF files that appear, generally there are 2 pattern files, 1 in A4 format and 1 in A0 format. You will also find the file including the assembly TUTORIAL
  4. Save these PDF files to a folder on your computer. From then on, they will be saved.

I advise you to print the tutorial first, so you will have all the instructions for printing the pattern (actual size, size selection, etc.) in front of you.

  1. Open the file named template-Format A4.pdf, preferably with Adobe Acrobat Reader software
  2. If you choose to print one or more sizes (but not all sizes)
Go to View menu > Show/Hide > Browser Panes > Layers
If you want to print all sizes, skip to step 5. (Print at actual size)
  3. Uncheck the box for the sizes you do not want to print
  4. Make sure that the INFORMATION eye remains clearly visible, this is the layer on which all the grain lines, the names of the parts, the instructions common to all sizes are noted.
  5. Print, making sure that the “actual size” or “100%” function is selected.
Please note that in some software, this may be presented in reverse, i.e. you must uncheck the "fit to page" or "page scaling" function.
  6. All you have to do is check the size of the pattern using the test square which is present on the pages of your pattern, they measure 4cm X 4cm

If you prefer to have the A0 format printed at a printer near you or an online printer such as www.patternsforyou.com , you just need to send them, to their email address, the pdf file named: template-FormatA0.pdf
The advantage will be not having to tape the pages, the pattern pieces of your blouse, dress, pants will be entirely on the sheet
Don't forget to let the printer know if you would like a size selection.
It's up to you to choose whether you also print the tutorial on an A4 page format or whether you prefer to view it on your screen while assembling your model.
